ISO 14001

ISO 14001 sets out the criteria for an environmental management system and can also be certified. It maps out a framework that a company or organisation can adopt to create an effective environmental management system. It can be used by any organisation regardless of its activity or sector. Using ISO 14001:2004 can provide assurance to company management and employees as well as external stakeholders that environmental impact is being measured and improved.


The Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) is a voluntary environmental management instrument, which was developed in 1993 by the European Commission. It enables organisations to assess, manage and continuously improve their environmental performance. The scheme is globally applicable and open to all types of private and public organisations.
